Back-End Developer (Solana Beach)

Who we are

Solana Beach is a community focused, bootstrapped, and independent block explorer for the Solana network. It was incubated by Staking Facilities and is now on its’ path to become a stand-alone, self-sufficient project with its’ own dedicated resources.

Our main focus is to make Solana blockchain data accessible to all and comprehensive for anyone - no matter their technical background. We strive to provide a seamless UX and insightful statistics about the network, so that we can help with the proliferation if its’ adoption.

What we are looking for

We think this role would best fit a software architect that is passionate about optimizing the performance and efficiency of data processing pipelines. We are looking for someone with a forward-thinking and entrepreneurial mindset. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of their own work and drive features along independently.

Our back-end is built in Rust, so we would like you to have either a strong background in Rust or a very strong background in C/C++. We’re looking for someone who:

• Writes clean, commented, and reusable code, and documents and communicates it as required.
• Has practical experience using git in a team environment
• Has previous experience in working with Linux-based operating systems
• Worked heavily with Rust and/or C/C++
• Is interested in how Blockchains work.
• Has a higher education in computer science or equivalent self-taught knowledge (covering the basics of theory such as functional vs OOP, set theory, linear algebra, as well as extensive knowledge in practical fields such as distributed systems/computer networks, operating systems, parallelization, databases, etc.)
• Is a great communicator, both written and verbal. in English, as we are an international team.
• Has the ability to work autonomously, with a self-starter attitude and an analytical mindset.
• Has a willingness to document things concisely and accurately. Sharing knowledge within the team.
• Has a good sense of humor. We like to keep it fun around here!
• Has the ability to pull-off wearing Pit Vipers (mandatory!)

Ideally, not mandatory, you:

• Had exposure to javascript and typescript (especially Node.js and svelte.js)
• Had exposure to containerization technology
• Have previous experience in other scripting and programming languages (Python, Go, Haskell)
• Have a technical understanding of the Solana blockchain

What you would do

• Back-end development in Node.js (occasionally C++ or Rust)
• Know and understand our software stack inside-out, we will onboard you extensively
• Coordinate & communicate development work by working closely with the rest of the team
• Collaborate with the Solana developer community to gather feedback on existing features and inspiration for new development.
• Show initiative for improving and adding features to Solana Beach, be creative, and share your ideas
